"90% of Kyiv residents support resignation of L. Chernovetskyi", Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated, commenting on the activity of L. Chernovetskyi in the office of Kyiv mayor.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, L. Chernovetskyi has obviously managed to blackmail authorities with the possible early elections in the capital of Ukraine in case of his resignation, so thorough attention of the law-enforcement agencies to the facts of Kyiv plundering by the so-called "young team" of Chernovetskyi is not to be expected.
Mykola Tomenko stated that the worst is that Kyiv is held hostage of the relations between L. Chernovetslyi and the authorities.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine singled out three possible ways out of the present situation in the capital of Ukraine. "Firstly, Leonid Chernovetskyi shall apply himself to Kyiv mayor duties that envisage everyday work, session of the Kyiv council, and meeting with the citizens, which, as we understand, is impossible ", M. Tomenko stressed. As to the second variant, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stated, "Considering the fact that L. Chernovetskyi has been receiving medical treatment for the last half-year, according to the labor legislation, he will be granted disabilities benefits with all implications, as he is not able to fulfill his duties." M. Tomenko implies the letter of resignation written by L. Chernovetskyi and conduction of pre-termed elections in the capital of Ukraine.
Still, M. Tomenko is convinced that despite the choice of L. Chernovetskyi, his activity is adequately assessed by Kyiv residents. He reminded that according to figures from a recent opinion poll, 90% of Kyiv residents support resignation of L. Chernovetskyi.
